We all want the whitest teeth possible.
It can be very frustrating, even if you brush regularly, for that tartar buildup to occur causing major discoloring. Your teeth become darker and that smile isn’t so attractive anymore. Plaque is often the culprit as it forms around your teeth making them look stained and yellow. They also can cause dental inflammation to form on the tissues. While going to the dentist is always best, there are actually some DIY methods to get rid of sediment build up that work great.
Check out these techniques that you can use to clean your teeth at home:
-Baking Soda and Salt.
Take one tablespoon of baking soda and a half teaspoon of salt and mix them together to form a toothpaste type mixture. Then simply put your toothbrush in the mix and use it to brush your teeth for 5 minutes, and then rinse.
-Dental Pick.
You can use a dental pick to get rid of your tarter, but you should be very careful to not jab or scrape your gums.
-Mouthwash.
Regularly rinsing your mouth cavity with antiseptic based natural mouthwash can help greatly. Try rinsing at least once every two days.
-Hydrogen Peroxide.
Use half a cup of warm water then one cup of hydrogen peroxide and rinse for 1 minute. Spit out and then use half a cup of cool water to rinse around.
In addition, pay attention to what you eat and drink in order to keep you teeth as white as possible. Food and drinks (like coffee) can effect the coloration of your teeth.
Both hot food as well as very cold food will activate your glands causing saliva to be produced which is good for healthy teeth.
Another trick is rubbing strawberries and tomatoes on your teeth. They are rich in vitamin C. You can use most other veggies and fruit as well to loosen up the sediments on your teeth. After rubbing in, let it settle for 5 minutes before rinsing. When you do rinse try using baking soda in warm water for your rinse.
Cheddar and Swiss cheese are other foods which will help control tartar buildup. They act as acid neutralizers, as acid accumulation is responsible for tartar buildup.
And finally, make sure you are brushing your teeth correctly. Use a vertical movement with a soft brush and be sure to get in between the teeth, that is the spaces between your teeth and gums. Be sure to use dental floss as well to get to the areas that a brush can’t get to.
